Description
A techie design to convey a virtual power grid. This piece was made using Lightwave 7 and PhotoShop7.
I started of in Lightwave to create the 3D shape you can see coming through on the right and side of the piece. Once rendered, I then brought it into PS and duplicate the layer, added a subtle gaussian blur and blended the pieces together.
I then added the lighting effect noticable toward the top by using a grey coloured airbrush and setting the blend mode to Colour Dodge. This layer was duplicated a couple of times to enhance the brightness.
I then created a series of 3D 'planks' in lightwave and saved them as a tga file so the background would be transparent. The texture was also set to 30% transparency. I layered these over the orignal file and the subtle transparency highlited board shaped parts of the original.
Next came the grid style layer. Using a series of shapes in PS. This was then layered on top to highlight the parts of the original layer on the right and sparce bits and pieces toward the left.
I then added the type and created the 'cloudy' effect in lightwave. It started off as a solid box, I then twisted it into shape and set a high tranparency and luminosity rate to it. Once again rendered as a tga file and brought into PS. I desaturated the later and blended it.
Finally I tweaked a little with the contrast and level. And here it is.
